Start with the deposit amount
The deposit amount is the base figure. A deposit of 900 pounds creates a possible compensation range of 900 to 2,700 pounds, before considering any separate deposit return issues.

Letters, emails and offers can matter. Keep a clear timeline of what you asked for, what the landlord accepted or denied, and whether the deposit was later protected or returned.
