Scheme checks

Search all three approved schemes before deciding your deposit is missing.

How tenants can check DPS, mydeposits and Tenancy Deposit Scheme records.

Check your eligibility

Use consistent details

Search with the tenant name, property address, deposit amount and tenancy dates. If a search fails, try reasonable variations such as a previous surname, flat number format or old postcode.

Do not rely on one scheme. A landlord can choose any approved provider.

Not sure what your paperwork means?

Use the eligibility check as the next step before trying to work out the claim alone.

Check eligibility

Save the results

Take screenshots showing the date and the details used. If a scheme emails confirmation, save the email as part of your evidence.

If you find a record

Check the protection date, deposit amount, address and tenancy parties. A record that exists can still reveal late protection or incorrect information.

Next step

Check whether this applies to your tenancy.

If the scheme searches are missing, late or inconsistent, use the eligibility check to work out what that means.
